Poultry science is the study of all types of birds raised for food and feathers, including chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks. Poultry are domesticated birds kept by humans for the eggs they produce, their meat, their feathers, or sometimes as pets. Poultry, including meat and eggs, is major agricultural commodity in the world. At some point, almost everyone has eaten chicken, turkey, eggs, or other poultry products. Poultry is also involved in basic biological research on genetics biochemistry and diseases. Poultry business has numerous benefits. People generally establish poultry farm for the purpose of producing eggs, meat and generating high revenue from these products. Billions of chickens are being raised throughout the world as a good source of food from their eggs and meat. The most common and widely raised poultry birds are chicken. About ve thousands million chickens are being raised every year as a source of food (both meat and eggs of chicken). The chickens which are raised for eggs are called layer chicken, and the chickens which are raised for their meat production are called broiler chickens.
