Education and Psychology
A teacher assistant is someone who works under a teacher’s supervision to give students additional attention and instruction. They work in public and private schools, childcare centers, and for religious organizations. Teaching assistants can go by many titles, depending on the school district. In some areas, they are called paraeducators, teacher’s aides, paraprofessionals, instructional aides or teacher assistants. The roles and responsibilities are the same regardless of title. The primary duty of a teaching assistant is to support the teacher in charge of the classroom, the lead teacher.
This Second Edition of ‘Teacher Assisting’ is a practical guide to the role, management, and deployment of teaching assistants.
