Hotel and Restaurant Management
Housekeeping management is at the core of hotel operations and can make the di erence between a reputed hotel and one that guests are unlikely to visit again. The primary housekeeping duty is to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of hotel rooms and to ascertain that they are properly stocked with the supplies to which guests are entitled. A hotel housekeeping runner not only conduct their duties but also investigates any complaints guests make and takes corrective action. Hotel housekeepers are charged with cleaning and maintaining the rooms and premises in and around a hotel. This may involve sweeping, waxing and polishing oors, emptying waste baskets, changing sheets, folding and ironing clothes and cleaning the rooms and hallways. Hotel housekeepers work in a unique place. Hotels are usually designed for the comfort of their guests rather than their housekeeping sta . This fact makes it very di cult to improve working conditions for housekeepers by means of better engineering. However, some improvements can be made by selecting more appropriate equipment. To attract guests and remain competitive, hotel management pursues a policy that everything should be "so clean it sparkles".
