Criminal psychology is the study of the wills, thoughts, intentions, and reactions of criminals and all that partakes in the criminal behavior. It is related to the eld of criminal anthropology. It studies o enders and o ending behavior in order to improve the investigation of crime by adding a psychological component, such as in O ender Pro ling. It also concerns the study of o ender rehabilitation to establish what works in reducing re-o ending. Additionally, criminal psychology is concerned with analyzing and improving the criminal justice system; enhancing police interviewing, detecting deception, or examining courtroom psychology and jury decision making. Finally, it is closely linked to issues of o ending behavior and mental health as it is well known that many o enders have mental health di culties, ranging from mild to severe.
