Trade and Industrial Education
Instrumentation and Control Servicing: Expert comprehends various diverse practical and visual skills with knowledge of specialized materials and techniques. Instrumentation is defined as the art and science of measurement and control of process variables within a production or manufacturing area. Instrumentation control engineering generally involves the design, development, and operation of systems used with machinery and various mechanical processes. The instrument design of any system generally depends on the equipment parameters and what it is used for. Components can interact differently under certain circumstances but, in general, most instrumentation and control systems have very integrated parts. This book will introduce the knowledge and skills for those studying and/or working in electronics sector to interpret and convey information in response to workplace requirements.
About this Book
The information in this book consists of basic to core competencies that a person must possess to enable him/her to startup, commission, diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation & control devices and systems, as well as microcomputer hardware, operating systems, common user applications, network systems, and various common peripherals in a manufacturing or processing environment.
About the Instrumentation and Control Industry
Instrumentation and Control plays a significant role in both gathering information from the field and changing the field parameters, and as such are a key part of control loops. The Instrumentation Technology, being an inter-disciplinary branch of engineering, is heading towards development of new & intelligent sensors, smart transducers, MEMS Technology, Blue tooth Technology. Control engineers are responsible for the research, design, development and control devices/systems, typically in manufacturing facilities and plants. A control and instrumentation engineer (C&I engineer) is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes. C&I engineers make sure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely. They work for the companies who manufacture and supply the equipment or for the companies who use it, such as nuclear and renewable energy companies and environmental agencies. C&I engineers need a thorough understanding of the operational processes of an organization. They have a multidisciplinary role, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including operations, purchasing and design. Salary levels vary according to the size of the organization, industry sector and geographical location.
